Do we live to work or work to live ?

The ability to balance career obligations with life obligations is a key part to the art of living.

What makes sense for some may make no  sense  to others - and in fact , despite its  importance often asking about "work /  life balance" during a job interview may be seen as a " faux pas".

It is understood that as members of society we all need to go to work and be productive and yet at the same time, we need to be loving fathers, mothers, husbands and wives - and still have time for ourselves!

There may be specific work challenges  such as heavy time consuming projects, extensive  travel , fear of public speaking , as well as work conflicts that prevent us from maintaining an equilibrium with our family lives.

All of these can keep us pre-occupied when we are at home. - Beware of the dreaded notion of continuously reading and responding to emails when we should be playing with our kids.

In reverse,  there may be things going on at home that prevent us from concentrating at work.- We have all been at work and not able to concentrate  due to last nights fight.

Its all a balancing act,  and it is easy at times  to feel overwhelmed and out of balance.

While there is no "one size fits all ", there are tools  and approaches that can help maintain equilibrium as both work and life can take us in uncharted directions.

Talking things over with an objective therapist may help keep  us balanced. - Please give us a call if you would like to book a session.
